Description
A puzzle-filled exploration of the many quirks and historical treats York has hiding on every corner. Race from the bustling St Helen's Square through the snickelways of the city, solving clues as a team to unravel your course. At the same time discover surprising facts about its past. Which Viking warrior inspired a famous nursery rhyme? How many Roman emperor's met their end in York? What comically named street is reputed to be one of the shortest in England? The answers to these and more await in Quirks and Snickets!
Along the way expect to find: Roman ruins, a historic city gate, the Medieval Barley Hall, an elegant 18th century townhouse and the world famous Shambles. All this plus puzzles, great cafes and pubs, and plenty of surprises. An ideal trail for locals, visitors and anyone looking to uncover the secrets lurking in York's iconic streets.
How It Works
Your team will receive clues on your phones that, once deciphered, will guide you to interesting and scenic parts of the city.The route is walking distance and features optional breaks at great pubs, bars and cafes along the way. The clues require no prior knowledge and come with hints to make the experience something everyone can enjoy.
