How the New York days out work
Clues & Challenges
Clues don't require any prior knowledge and are generally made up of two parts:
1) Obscured directions that make reference to the city around you. Unravel their meaning and be guided by your surroundings.
2) A puzzle to be solved once you've followed the directions, search nearby to find your answers.
Guided by clues sent to your phone
- Receive snippets of history, quirky facts and intriguing stories about the areas you visit.
- Pub/cafe breaks along your hunt, all totally optional and some with discounts on food & drinks.
- Make memories at locations along the way, get inspiration from previous teams and share a clever snap!
- Race for a top position on the game leaderboard, or go at your own pace.

CityDays’ Outdoor New York Escape Rooms: A Live-Action Game in New York’s Neighborhoods
We can all agree that escape rooms are awesome, right?
You get that shiver of excitement as you and your buddies, family, SO or coworkers step up to the challenge.
We want that feeling to last as long as possible, so we created something a little different.
We’re passionate about turning cities into playgrounds and getting people of all ages to have fun. That’s the great thing about our outdoor New York escape room games: it’s easy for everyone to get involved.
At CityDays, we transform cities into playgrounds by creating routes and puzzles from scratch that are designed to test you and your team’s puzzle-solving, teamwork and observational abilities.
Most importantly, each of our outdoor New York escape room routes is based on the neighborhood it’s set in. No two games are the same and you’ll have to use your powers of deduction, wit and guile to complete the game.
Brains, not brawn, will win you and your team the top spot on our New York leaderboard.

Here’s the lowdown on how our games work…
How Our Escape Rooms New York Work
Since our New York escape “rooms” are held outdoors, they’re “built” slightly differently. After all, as there are no rooms or physical barriers involved, you might be wondering what you need to do to complete the game…
Well, it’s really very simple.
You and your team start at a chosen location (depending on which trail you pick).
From there, you have to complete a set of tasks, puzzles and riddles, deciphering clues that will take you between locations, sent to your phone(s) via WhatsApp. If you don’t give us the right answer, you can’t move on in the game!
When you’ve sent us the correct answer, you’ll be given new clues and challenges to lead you to your next destination. Each location is located a short walking distance away, and may require you to keep your eyes peeled for possible clues along the way…
Once you’ve answered all our clues, visited all the destinations and completed the trail, we’ll tally up your score. This is based on how many correct answers you got, any time penalties you accrued, and how many hints you asked for.
All you need to play our games is a phone with WhatsApp, access to cellular data and a pair of comfortable shoes for walking. That’s it!
