Best Bachelorette Ideas in NYC
Take On an Outdoor Escape Room Together
Location: Various
Looking for unique bachelorette ideas in NYC? It doesn’t get any more different than this.
Escape rooms are everywhere at the moment, so, I probably don’t need to tell you what they are or how they work. But outdoor escape rooms are in a whole different league, so I’ll just quickly run you through the details.
Obviously, you won’t be physically locked up anywhere outside (that’d be creepy). Instead, in outdoor escape rooms like these, the streets become your arena and the buildings, sidewalks, street art, furniture, statues, and plaques become your checkpoints.
Clues get sent to your phones for you and your bachelorette party to unlock together, and it’s up to you whether you race against the clock or take your sweet time exploring NYC together.
There are four routes to choose from with different themes covering different parts of NYC, so pick one that suits you best and get your team name up there on the leaderboard!
Practical information: Cost ranges from $20 to $25 per person. For more details on game themes, locations, and how to book your adventure, visit CityDays NYC Escape Room Games.
Do a Rooftop Yoga Class with Sky High Yoga
Location: Edge, Hudson Yards, NYC
If you’re looking for NYC bachelorette ideas that will help calm your nerves and stress before the big day, I’d recommend booking into a yoga class with your girls. No matter where you choose to go, yoga is a great way to get your mind and body to relax.
But as this is for your bachelorette, I’d recommend elevating your experience (literally!) with a rooftop yoga class at Edge in Hudson Yards. Offering breathtaking views of the city skyline, this session combines wellness with a unique perspective of New York - and it adds a splash of “fancy” to your pre-wedding workout.
Practical information: Schedule and prices can be found at Sky High Yoga.
Catch a Killer in a Manhattan Murder Mystery
Location: Chelsea, New York City
Your bach crew might be made up of your partners in crime but, I’m telling you, becoming partners in solving crime is the way to go.
Whether there’s two or twenty or more of you, you’ll become detectives trying to track down a mysterious (fictional) killer. All you’ve got is each other, your phones, and a crime scene that spans over Chelsea.
This immersive murder mystery game allows you to uncover clues, solve puzzles and crack the case, and discover the secrets that lurk in Chelsea’s hidden corners. It’s a great day out and a really fun way to fill some time before a dinner reservation or before heading to some bars, perfect for active bachelorettes and brides-to-be who feel the itch to explore and puzzle-solve!
Practical information: Tickets cost $25 per person. Play any time you want. For more event details and to make a reservation, visit The Devil in Chelsea.
Have a Comedy Night at NYC’s Best Comedy Clubs
Location: Various
Laughter is pure medicine, especially when you’re surrounded by your favorite people.
If there’s one thing you can always find in NYC, it’s laughter. Sure, we take a few things seriously - sidewalk traffic management, for one thing - but there’s no denying that we have a sense of humor.
You’ll find tons of places where you can find scheduled comedy nights or improv stand up in NYC. Personally, my favorite venues are Comedy Cellar, Gotham Comedy Club, and West Side Comedy Club - check ‘em out and see if we have similar tastes.
Practical information: Visit club websites for show schedules and ticket prices.
Get Lyrical with a Karaoke Night
Location: Various
I can only speak for myself, but the soundtracks to my friendships with my girlfriends are incredible. Songs we’ve sung on road trips, at parties, in clubs, you name it. I can’t even listen to some bands without their faces popping into my head.
If that’s you as well, there’s only one option: Relive old memories and create new ones by visiting a karaoke club.
Personally, I’d recommend Lion’s Roar, Gagopa and Planet Rose - but there are loads of options out there that might be closer to your location so take a look around!
Practical information: Many places don’t require reservations but check individual locations for specific offerings and any cover charges.
Fun Bachelorette Ideas in NYC
Do a Scavenger Hunt Through NYC’s Garment District
Location: New York City's Garment District
If the bride or bridal party is made up of fashionistas with a flare for adventure, check out this scavenger hunt.
As everyone knows, NYC is one of the fashion capitals of the world, and style is a top priority for many in this city. Glamour of Midtown is an interactive scavenger hunt that takes you and the bridal party through NYC's historic Garment District, the historic home of NYC fashion.
Engage in puzzles and challenges that reveal the secrets of this fashion-forward area, wear your best (but comfortable shoes, the game includes a lot of walking!), and take plenty of pics in scenic spots.
Practical information: Tickets cost $20 per person. Play any time you want. For more event details and to make a reservation visit Glamour of Midtown.
Take a Calligraphy Class Together
Location: Brooklyn
Add a touch of elegance to your bachelorette party by learning modern calligraphy together.
Hosted by Brooklyn Craft Company, this workshop teaches the basics of penmanship and expressive lettering, perfect for crafting heartfelt wedding invitations or thank-you notes.
Even though you’re probably way past the stage of creating your invitations, it’s a cool new skill to learn with your loved ones and you get to take a little keepsake of your handiwork home with you afterward.
Practical information: Class details and registration can be found at Modern Calligraphy.
Pamper Yourself and Your Bach Crew at a Spa
Location: Various
We’re back on a relaxation theme but this time taking it up a notch.
If you’re a spa person, you probably don’t need much persuading to book a spa day. I’m a sucker for heat, so steam rooms, saunas, warm water pools live rent free in my head as places I’d rather be.
There are loads of spa options around NYC that can cater for varying budgets - and, of course, you can always opt for a low-key mani-pedi or face mask session at home if you’d prefer.
If you do want to go all out for your bachelorette party though, then I’d recommend AIRE Ancient Baths. You get access to thermal baths, massages, and exclusive spa treatments, plus it looks super fancy. Just don’t forget that this is where people go to relax - save noisier celebrations for after!
Practical information: Visit AIRE Ancient Baths NYC for more details on spa packages and reservations.
Have a Classy Afternoon Tea at A Fancy Hotel
Location: Various, though I’d recommend Laduree and Whitby Hotel
Think about it: there’s often a whole range of people who want to celebrate your bachelorette with you.
If that includes new and expecting moms, older people or anybody with mobility issues, sisters who haven’t turned 21 yet, or people who don’t drink alcohol for whatever reason, it can be hard to find something that everyone can get involved in.
That’s when I’d recommend going for afternoon tea together. When I did this for a friend’s bachelorette, I was super impressed with how cozy and sophisticated everything was. Elegant food, beautiful decor and a great opportunity to meet and spend time with the bride’s friends - in other words, perfection.
Practical information: Advance booking is recommended; check each location for availability and pricing.
Hit Up NYC’s Best Arcade Bars
Location: Various
Looking for bachelorette party ideas that will level up the fun? Check out NYC's best arcade bars.
Gaming may or may not be something you’re especially interested in, but there’s no denying that playing video or arcade games is super inclusive and a great way to hang out with friends before the Big Day.
If you’re looking for places to go to get your game on, I’d recommend spots like Black Cat LES, Squarrel Cafe, and Hex NYC.
Practical information: Check individual venues for opening hours and any possible cover charges.
Say Cheers to The Bride-to-Be at NYC’s Coolest Rooftop Bars
Location: Various
On the other hand, if you’re looking for bachelorette party ideas in NYC that involves a drink (or more!), you’re spoiled for choice.
For many, a toast to future happiness and the strength of your friendship with the bride is a must – and luckily, there’s a ton of places you can go. Rooftops are always a safe bet - they’re beautiful, have great views and amazing decor, and give you a chance to get dressed up.
I’ve tried to trim down this list and include just a few of my favorites, but I may have gotten a bit carried away. Take a browse!
Haven Rooftop in the Theatre District: Haven Rooftop has great views and a serene setting perfect for enjoying (amazing!) cocktails and conversation. It’s also kid-friendly during the daytime and is a more relaxed option.
Gallow Green atop the McKittrick Hotel: One of my favorite bars in NYC, Gallow Green rooftop garden bar is like a secret garden in the sky. Green and lush, the decor is incredible and I adore the wooden swing seats.
Le Bain at The Standard, High Line: Perfect for party people as it’s more of a nightclub. Le Bain offers stunning views, a Jacuzzi, and a lively dance scene.
230 Fifth Rooftop Bar: Famous for its rooftop igloos in winter and sprawling outdoor space, 230 Fifth provides a variety of drinks and exceptional views of the Empire State Building.
Practical information: Reservations may be needed, especially for larger groups. Check each bar's website for specific details.
Jazz Up Your Plans at a Jazz Club
Location: Historic jazz clubs in Harlem and Greenwich Village
The music scene here in NYC is off the charts, and whatever you’re into, you’re bound to find it here somewhere. I’m a huge fan of jazz clubs, so that’s what I’ll recommend here, but if you aren’t, this is your sign to find a bar or club that plays your preferred genre!
To be honest, you don’t have to be a huge jazz fan to enjoy the vibes at a jazz club; they are a great option for anybody who loves a more chilled-out vibe. My favorites are Smalls, Blue Note or Birdland Jazz Club.
Practical information: Advance tickets are often necessary. Visit the clubs' websites to check performance schedules and book seats.
Have a Portrait Party at a Photography Studio
Location: Various
Some of the best bachelorette ideas in NYC are ideas that are simple but executed perfectly - like a portrait party.
Depending on what your budget is, you can either go DIY or hire a company to take care of all the cameras, props, backdrops etc for you.
Personally, I love the idea of having a photobooth session with my girlfriends before the Big Day - we did this for an engagement party and the photos are so funny to look back on now.
There are studios all over NYC but I’d recommend checking out Brindamour Studios in Brooklyn (those sequin backdrops are everything!).
Practical information: Booking information and package details will vary.
Eat Your Fill at Koreatown’s Foodie Hotspots
Location: Cote and Turntable Chicken Jazz in Koreatown
Obviously, not everybody will be into Korean cuisine or even really know what it is - but since we’re sharing our favorite activities and places to visit in NYC, I’ve gotta tell you about Koreatown.
Just thinking about this neighborhood makes me hungry, and no wonder: it’s home to Cote, the only Michelin starred Korean steakhouse in the USA.
If I had to give more of my favorites, I’d put Cho Dang Gol and Turntable Chicken Jazz right at the top. Perfect for foodie bachelorettes or anybody who wants to try something a little different, you can’t go wrong with exploring a gourmet paradise.
Practical information: Reservations are highly recommended, especially at Cote. Check each venue for hours and menu options.
Plan a Picnic at One of NYC’s Cutest Parks
Location: I recommend Governor’s Island, Washington Square Park, Madison Square Park and, of course, Central Park - but look around, there’s tons of options!
If you’re looking for bachelorette ideas in NYC that are super budget-friendly, good news: you don’t have to go further than your nearest park.
Unless you really hate the outdoors or you’re planning your bachelorette for the winter, there’s a million reasons why you should consider hosting a get-together at a cozy spot in the city. First off, there’s hundreds of cute parks in and around NYC to choose from, secondly, your expenses will most likely be limited to food and drink.
This idea also gives you room to show off your creative skills: will you set a theme? Throw a tea party? Fire up a public grill? Bring along some games? The options are endless.
Besides, if you don’t want (or can’t) provide enough food for everyone you’d like to invite, make it a sharing party where everyone brings along some dishes or hit up some food trucks and taste NYC’s street food scene. Honestly, wherever you take this, be sure to make it thoroughly yours and your friends and family will surely love it!
Practical information: No reservations needed for park access and small groups, but check park websites for any special event schedules and guidelines.
